As a company with two divisions, we sell used machine tools through RACO Industrial and new equipment through Atherton Machinery. Our new equipment inventory includes manual machines for mold making or model making shops, such as SHARP and ACRA knee mills & lathes, DoAll & WF Wells saws, KENT surface grinders, & MECO keyseating machines. Six months ago we moved into additive manufacturing by offering BigRep ONE large scale 3D printers. Their machines range from a 40” X, Y, Z working envelope in PLA to a smaller sized heated chamber machine for polycarbonates like ABS & nylon.

We have 16 employees who are split on the sales/clerical and the service side. We belong to MDNA (Machinery Dealers National Association) for used equipment that offers a 30-day return privilege for our used inventory. We are also a 30-year member of the TMA (Tooling & Manufacturing Association) and two year member of the CAIC (Calumet Area Industrial Commission). We serve on their committees and Boards. We own our building and have been in that location in Des Plaines, IL (next to O’Hare Airport) for more than 25 years.

We are also active in workforce training in the high schools (East & West Leyden, Bloom and Bowen) community colleges (Prairie State, South Suburban, & Harper) in Chicagoland. We produced a film of the re-birth of the West Leyden manufacturing program. 

RACO partners with the Museum of Science and Industry, having donated $500,000 to fund the Robot Revolution exhibit that is now travelling. We also produced a Robot MSI video.
