Thanks for the input. I've been in touch with Florida Chemical, who also is the supplier for the Complete Sculptor. I'll report back once I have some product and can test it.
I'm using a fiber based double stick tape to hold down the metal sheets for CNC milling, on to a 1/8" masonite wasteboard. Need the extra tack to keep them from slipping.
I've adjusted my tapes and found one that I like, but still they parts need soaked off, not peeled. Looking forward to never purchasing acetone again. I have tried iso, but its not effective.
Excellent little problem solving tidbits that pop in to our conversations. |

It is $300. for a 5 gal. container.
Yes it leaves an oily residue but that comes off with soap and warm water. |

We use heptane a lot, although if you are trying to get away from acetone then maybe not the best choice. It's not as harsh on most paint compared to acetone.
Bestine is our go-to brand for this. It disappear off the market for a while a few years ago so we started using D&K UnStik. Bestine is available again, now made by Speedball Art Products rather than Union Rubber. Best use for it is to get old dried out paper backing off acrylic. Just wipe the paper backing down, wait 30 seconds then peal away
I have tried the citrus based removers available from the usual suspects and they are as good or worse than IPA and seem to leave an oily residue.
Very interested to to try out pure D-Limonene or citric acid. |

I use 91% ISO on a regular basis to remove double stick tape from parts and the mill tables. Works great. If you're cutting tooling board, you might need to set the parts to the side to dry as some densities will draw the alcohol in. But it dries pretty quickly. We have a small 4" fan on the drying bench to expedite drying times. |

D-Limonene, citrus oil extract, works well on adhesives. Home Depot has blended variations. Pure D-Limonene is available as well. Douglas and Sturgess in San Fransisco might have it. |

If you haven't yet, try isopropyl alcohol. Works like a charm to remove standard paper-backed doublestick. At least, the tape we get from McMaster... |

In the workshop discussion following Craig Lesse' presentation, we discussed adhesive releases. I wrote down 100% citric acid, but have only located that in granular form.
Is that correct? If so, what concentration to begin with?
I'm trying to release double-stick tape adhesive post machining and desperate to find something other than acetone, for obvious reasons. |
